Christian HEYLEN - General Manager PURE Worldwide

Passionated diver since more than 22 years, he makes his passion his work in 1997 when he decides to become a PADI Instructor. It was the creation of Subaqua Diving School, later transformed into Atlantis Dive College. Christian became PADI Course Director and DSAT Trimix Instructor Trainer and made Atlantis Dive College grow to become a big PADI 5 star IDC Dive Center. With a team of up to 25 active diving instructors, Christian had managed to grow Atlantis Dive College as the largest commercial training facility in Belgium and around, with more than 500 student divers a year. Thousands of students were trained, as well as hundreds of instructors in Belgium and across Europe.

Belgium was however not an easy ground to continue to develop new activities. From now on TDI and IANTD Instructor Trainer, it is in 2004 that the decision was taken to move Atlantis Dive College to Safaga in Egypt, and to grow new activities in a more attractive environment. Main goals were to develop technical diving and rebreather diving. The outstanding environment of the Red Sea allowed Christian to develop quickly a rebreather diving business, with hundreds of rebreather dives and technical rebreather dives in just one year. One year later PURE, the Professional Underwater Rebreather Explorers, was born and since almost three years PURE teams up with one of the most prestigious partners of the diving industry in the Red Sea : The Red Sea Diving College in Sharm-el-Sheik, where it operates the tek & rebreather department.

Still today, more than 13 years later, training divers and instructors is still his passion... and to make them discover the hidden wonders from underwater world, especially thanks to Tek and Rebreather diving.

This passion for the underwater world made him develop a new diving philosophy, the one of PURE, where protection of the underwater world became as important as the exploration of it. He has a new way of exploring it : with more respect.
